What Can Counselling Help With?

Counselling can help with a variety of mental health conditions, such as: anxiety, depression, eating disorders and personality disorders. In sessions, we will gain a deeper understanding of the root cause of these conditions and find ways to reduce the distress they cause.

Counselling may also be helpful for coping with a number of physical health conditions, including: chronic illness, injury and infertility. Whilst counselling can’t change the nature of physical health, it can provide ways of coping with physical health problems and therefore improve quality of life.

In addition to mental and physical health concerns, counselling can help to navigate difficult life events such as: the breakdown of a relationship, bereavement and job loss. This work typically revolves around helping clients to process what has happened and to explore the difficult feelings that may arise as a result.

Counselling can be helpful to explore issues around identity, including sexual and gender identity. Counselling is a safe space to explore these highly personal topics, in a non-judgemental environment. Through an existential therapy informed approach, clients can gain clarity and a deeper understanding and acceptance of their identity.

Counselling can also help to work through difficult feelings and emotional states, such as: anger, sadness and low self-esteem. We may explore what is behind these feelings in order to make positive changes.
